Powerhouse Films - producers of the newly remastered 1973 movie Assassin (to be released on Blue Ray with other Pemini productions in May) - asked me to make a little commentary on the career of the film's star, Ian Hendry.

As you probably remember, I wrote Ian's biography, Send in the Clowns, so I guess that's why they approached me.

The commentary runs to 22 minutes! It's me talking about his TV appearances and films interspersed with clips from his work as I mention them - e.g. Repulsion, The Hill, Vendetta for the Saint, Get Carter, The Lotus Eaters, The Internecine Project and For Maddie with Love.

It will be released as an additional feature and it's been very professionally edited by James Blackford at Powerhouse Films.

They have asked that they have exclusive rights to this for the Blue Ray release - in other words not to be released on social media for the moment. But, later on, I'm sure we can find a way to screen it and get a wider audience, i.e. not just for those who buy Assassin.

Anyway, my point is that this is the long-awaited profile of Hendry's career that I and Ian's nephew, Neil, always wanted to make.

I've seen many of Ian's films but I've never seen Assassin. It sounds intriguing. I need to look into this one. I wish someone would release a decent print of his 1962 film Live now, pay later. Ian was terrific as the rogue lead character, displaying a great flair for comedy. I also wish the surviving episodes of The Informer, a series I've never seen, would be made available.

Put me down for The Informer too, it sounds intriguing.

Talking Pictures TV in the UK has shown Live Now, Pay Later a few times and hopefully their new online catchup service "TPTV Encore" will have it next time as well.

May be worth a mention to Rodney Marshall on his Twitter, as he posts copiously about 60s adventure TV, films and actors, and his followers will be interested in this film and the BluRay extra.

I ordered this set a couple of weeks back based purely on some of the names involved and the films sound intriguing even though Iíve never heard of them.
