Renée Glynne, the continuity and script supervisor, has died at 95. Among her many works was participation in The Avengers and The New Avengers. She has also participated in recent New Avengers Watch Events by Philip Hawkins.

Today, the Kachler-Glynne family announces the very sudden passing of our beloved Mum, Mother-by-luv and Omi Renee Glynne. She lived to be 95.5 years old, and had a wonderful last few months of her life with a very caring close friend. We are upset about her unexpected natural passing, and feel her presence as she ascends into the loving arms of the father-mother of all life. She loved her life, she overcame the heartaches, and relished every bit of it until her last breath. She will be dearly missed.
Rest and live in peace, Renee! We'll see you again in a while. Bless you and thank you for all the good loving and appreciation you brought to us and the admiration you deserved and received. Good night, sweet dreams, eternal friend! Xxx

A long life, well-lived! I am sure she is very much missed by all her friends and loved ones, she certainly added to the joy of life, not least with our little big show.

Greatly saddened by this, Renee was great. So much fun and loved her career. She still had props from Purdey's boudoir, can you believe it?

Renee was very pleasant guest for these New Avengers Watch Events by Philip Hawkins (for example, the participation of Cyd Child and Ray Austin was not unexpected, unlike Renee). Definitely Renee is great loss for British cinema and television fans.

Obituary from Avalard Publishing:

https://www.facebook.com/avalardpublishing/posts/5219857391385836

We are saddened at the news of the passing of legendary woman-in-film, and our friend, Renée Glynne.
A script supervisor and continuity girl from the 1940s through to very recently, she refused to retire, and was technically still working at 95.
A talented artist, she exhibited most weeks on the Bayswater Road, and touched the lives of everyone she met. She was simply inspirational.
Long-time followers will be aware that we were for some years working on and off on Renée's autobiography with her. While she had a well-documented career in film - working with everyone from George Bernard Shaw to Jean Luc Godard - her outside work life was even more fascinating, and it was a privilege to hear her stories and be trusted with the tales of her life.
Last year we reiterated our agreement with Renée that we would not publish her personal life story without her express consent and sign off. She changed her mind at various points about what should and shouldn't be included, and we never wanted to break that trust and duty of care. The project had officially been parked, although we continued to quietly work on it in the hope of revisiting it this year.
We are devastated by her loss.
Renée's life story was fascinating, but without her here to give her blessing to a deeply personal manuscript we cannot share that story for her. And so in response to enquiries, we must confirm that the autobiography of Renée Glynne will not now be published by Avalard.
We send our love and condolences to all who knew this amazing woman. We will remember her with affection and joy.

The wonderful, unique and irreplaceable Renée Glynne (1926-2022). If I had asked her to do continuity on my next film, she would have said yes. Now let's have the Renée Glynne Award for Best Script Supervisor.

Talking Pictures TV channel in the UK had this in their newsletter this week:

RENEE GLYNNE (1926-2022)

We were very sad to hear of the passing of our good friend, Renee Glynne. Renee was the most-credited script supervisor in all of British cinema. She started as a Production Secretary during the war and worked in that capacity on many films, including Brief Encounter (1946). She moved into continuity and her career included work on The Boy Who Turned Yellow (1972) for the Children’s Film Foundation along with a number of Hammer films. She was a close friend and collaborator of director, Terence Fisher. Working well into her ninth decade, Renee was a pioneer. We send our sincerest condolences to Renee’s family and friends.

Let’s also take time to celebrate all the amazing people like Renee, who have spent their entire careers behind the camera and without whom there would be no films.
