Hi folks,

I intend to get all Avengers-season (until now I only have season 4 and 5). Embarassed
But I'm still wondering about something...
Does there exist an DVD-release with an English subtitle?
Well, I enjoy watching The Avengers in English, but sometimes I hardly understand anything (especially some special words).
I tried to use the subtitle in my language, to understand what they're saying, but the original is sometimes different from the dubbing.
So I only can guess, what the special words are, I'm looking for, or I can ask you.
But I think it not a good idea to get on your nerves with frequently asking, "what did they say "or "what's the meaning of this"...
Is there an English subtitle available, because I couldn't find one...

Sincerely yours,
Sinus1994

As far as I know, only season 5 has been released with English subtitles, at least in Britain (on the Contender issue, the first release of DVDs, before the current Optimum/Canal lot) - I am not sure about America.

It's a shame because I too would appreciate subtitles, being a bit deaf.

I think the French DVDs are meant to have fairly accurate subtitles, but again it depends whether you understand French!

Oh no, French!
My French is not as good as my English...
I watched "The Forget-Me-Knot" in French and after a few scenes I gone to banana!
I didn't understand a single word at all, because I couldn't recognise the dialogues, what I usually do, when I'm watching an episode...
And the German subtitles/dialogues aren't always the same as in original. (I think they couldn't adopt/translate the jokes/banters/innuendos so good.)

Sincerely yours,

I used to live with an Austrian so my Deutsch became fairly good for a time. Yes, it would be good to have German or English subtitles for season 1-4 and 6.

Does anyone know if the USA disks have subtitles?

I'm glad to hear, that someone is willing to learn Deutsch. Very Happy
And hats off to you Frankymole! The challenge to improve your German skills by "learning" from an Austrian...
Yes, as far as I know there is a German subtitle for season 4 and 5, but I must say, I've forgotten how to turn it on... *hehe...* Embarassed

For your information Sinus, The French dvds have two main menus : first one in English, the other one in French (Emma Peel series only).
All the EP episodes have English and French subtitles.

(Except series 4and 5, the others don't have English subtitles).

No subtitles on the A&E dvds.

Oh, that's a luxury.
The German DVDs haven't got an English subtitle.
A friend showed me "The Forget-Me-Knot" as a clip and didn't mentioned, that it is in French (I guess to tease me).
That's why I was so...confused...
I am sorry, if I have upset you. It wasn't my intention. Confused
