While the world is mourning the death of Jean-Paul Belmondo today, news came that actor Tony Selby died.
Tony as Stanley in Avengers episode The Curious Case of the Countless Clues (1968).

Tony Selby dead: EastEnders legend and Doctor Who star dies aged 83
The star passed away on Sunday, his management LCM Limited, confirmed with a tribute shared on social media on Monday.
In a statement, they said on Twitter: "With great sadness we announce that actor Tony Selby passed away peacefully in London yesterday.
"In a career spanning 70 years in theatre, film and TV, Tony was highly respected and loved by family, friends and colleagues.
"His renowned sense of humour will be missed by us all."
Tributes have poured in from fans online. One penned: "RIP Tony Selby (83) Glitz has headed home." A second added: "So sorry to hear this. I loved watching him. He was terrific." A third joined in: "Glitz really was an underrated character. Given one or two more appearances he could’ve been the Captain Jack or River Song of 80’s Who. RIP Tony Selby."
Tony's TV acting career led to him starring on many big British shows including a starring role in RAF National Service comedy Get Some In!, and a recurring role in Doctor Who as Sabalom Glitz.
Lambeth-born Tony appeared in single episodes of hit sitcoms the Good Life and My Family. He also appeared in three episodes of the Minder as Jack, the minder of gangster's wife Rose Mellors and appeared in the 1965 drama series Three Clear Sundays. In the early 1990s, he played chauffeur to Adam Faith's character in the drama series Love Hurts and he is well known for his role as Clive Mitchell in EastEnders in 2002.
Tony also worked in film with his CV boasting a role in the 1966 version of Alfie - alongside Michael Caine. His other appearances included Press for Time, Poor Cow, Witchfinder General, Before Winter Comes, In Search of Gregory, Villain, Nobody Ordered Love, and Adolf Hitler: My Part in his Downfall. _________________ Denis |

Sad news. I was only watching him a couple of days ago in The Good Life, where he was of course brilliant as a rag and bone man who was making a tidy sum of money! And Talking Pictures TV showed Get Some In a year or two back which was the first time I'd seen it all the way through. He held that show together.

Ah that's a shame. Tony Selby had great comic timing. He was brilliant in Get some in and stole every scene he was in. I saw him a few days ago in an episode of The Sweeney. He was in loads of stuff. The Avengers, Dept S and Dr Who among others. RIP. |

yeah, he sure did have the knack of sorta 'stealing' the scene he was in..a great ' b ' actor...RIP. |
