Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but unfortunately, the loss of another Avengers and ITC contributor who played a major part in shaping the style of various TV shows during the sixties. I can still vividly remember Andrew Pixley, Vanessa Bergman and myself doing an interview (for Time Screen) with Cyril, in his spacious apartment in Harley Street and Frankel telling us about his unmade ITC film series CYB. Although Cyril only directed a solitary episode of The Avengers, Whoever Shot Poor George Oblique Stroke XR40? he wanted to work on the series more, but his commitments to various ITC film series prevented it. From what I saw and from what Iíve heard of him, he was a true gentleman and a totally professional director.

He worked on some great shows.

I've enjoyed some good interviews with him about Department S and Jason King. Apparently the only man who could control Peter Wyngarde.

RIP Cyril
