I've been searching for this donor case for years with no luck. I know it wasn't orange originally but I've run out of ideas of what it could be, attaché case, portable record case, flight case ?? Anyone have any ideas? Very Happy

This is a project I want to see succeed!

Or go to a well established specialised store and ask them, bring pictures. They can maybe point you further, or give you names which will help you searching.

Thank you Allard. I've always had visions of recreating it and making it speak using sound clips from the DVD. I told myself I'd only do it if I found the right case. For years I've convinced myself that it's not a suitcase, it just looks too formal, very straight lines and certainly a hard case. At first I believed it was an attache case, but no. This is the closest I've ever come to finding it but at £400.00 it's out of the question, especially as it's not the exact one. I'm starting to think the only way to do it now is to build it from scratch myself, But I'm very reluctant to attempt that.

I think they used the same cases in Death's Door so must have been a commonly available attaché case of the time.

I didn't realise that, thanks you Piers. that may narrow it down. I did assume that it was easily available due to the fact more than one was seen in TMTYL.

Just checked Death's Door, sadly Piers the cases used in that are completely different to Tara's case.

The search continues ....

The Take Me To Your Leader case seems to be somewhere between a travel (suit)case and an attachecase, it clearly is very sixties.

I would imagine it to be something for a businessman to take on travel abroad, it's bigger but has locks, yet to small for a lot of clothing.

The holes made for the speaker indicate it is a pretty hard material, by the way.

It might just be made by the prop department, cobbled together, when doing research look carefully at elements at sixties suitcases and attachecases, not just the whole thing.

It is an odd case Allard, as you say not really one thing or the other. Too small for a suitcase and not quite right for an attache case. Someone suggested yesterday that it may be a medical case. After all these decades who knows. I have searched for around 10 years with no luck. I do know it wasn't originally orange but black. As you say due to the speaker aperture it does appear to be a very hard shell case, but several scenes suggest otherwise. The speaker seen here is one example. I've decided to bite the bullet, I could wait years and never find the correct donor case, so I'm going to attempt to build the whole thing from scratch, That said I don't hold up much hope for the finished replica, at the moment I have no idea how to start. Rolling Eyes That said the crypt scene does show it to be a little bigger in length than a bottle of champers !!

Very Happy

Yes, that's the thing to do. I expect an original will turn up just as you've finished, that's what usually happens to me! Smile Good luck with it, keep us posted.

lol - Yes I thought exactly that yesterday, I'll struggle to replicate it (and it will be a struggle), then the exact model will turn up Rolling Eyes

A case for medical equipment is a nice theory. The hard material outside could suggest vulnerable contents. Maybe a salesmen's case with sample's of breakable products, this would also fit with the strange mid size.

Indeed. I don't believe it's a standard off the shelf dept store kinda case which probably explains why I've never come across one. Looks like from the ground up is the only way forward.
