With two of the four volumes of The Avengers on film already published and the Tara volume out before Christmas, my attention will be turning to the Gale era. I am planning a similar book, this one covering the videotape episodes but only those featuring Honor Blackman. I will be writing on Mandrake and Death of a Great Dane but all the other episodes are up for grabs. Please feel free to reserve any here or by e-mailing me:

rodneymarshall628@btinternet.com

If anyone feels strongly that it should be broken up/down into two separate books - Seasons 2 and 3 - please say so.

My father is writing a foreword based on the experience of watching the 'live' videotape episodes being rehearsed and then 'filmed'.

Any ideas for a title?

Submission date: August 1st 2015.

I think you'll regret not doing all of series 2 & 3, and will then decide to expand as you did with your earlier books.

I'd love to do ... oh, so many of them!

Can I have Concerto and The Wringer?

I really ought to extend myself and so something harder though... but not Grandeur!! Maybe I should do Conspiracy of Silence or November Five ... or The Golden Fleece.

If you do them all, I'd love to do The Removal Men and The Sell-Out.

Obviously a big book with 52 chapters. Seven chapters each is top limit and chapters must be 2,500 words maximum. James went a bit mad last time!

22 episodes already booked out suggests that the videotaped era has plenty of admirers.

After chatting to Timeless, I feel that the era deserves separate books for the two seasons and this would also ease pressure on contributors. Alan will offer an introduction for volume 1, covering the existing Keel era. Contributions for Season 2 by August 1st, for Season 3 by December 1st. Does that sound reasonable to people?

I was going to suggest exactly that, for consistency. It would be unfair on Julie & Jon to have their episodes covered in an book called Gale Force.

Would you include a chapter on each of the 2 1/3 episodes extant from series 1 in the first volume?

Enquiring minds want to know...

Personally, I think the only place for Julie and Jon's episodes is in context, with the Gale episodes. The sensible thing, from my point of view would be to call the Series 3 book Gale Force and come up with a non-Cathy-specific title for the Series 2 book.

Venus, particularly, was a regular feature throughout Series 2, and to take those episodes out and treat them as a separate entity would, to me at least, seem odd.

I agree

take the available Keel material and combine it with Season 2. That way the flow and feel of that book will feel more organic

The intro chapter you attach can be quite interesting since that would cover the most significant level of evolution for the show

I've been debating if I can do a Gale episode and do it to my satisfaction. I'm still way behind on my Tara chapters. These babies take a great deal out of me to give birth to Laughing

Actually it might be fun to re-visit Th Freighteners if you included the Keel material. Thank God I did a short piece on David's old site

Rich, why don't you also take Don't Look Behind You as it fits in nicely with your lovely chapter on The Joker. I'm happy to give it to you! Great - as always - to have you on board.

Being a big fan of George A Cooper, I'd love to do The White Dwarf - and maybe Bullseye (or Traitor in Zebra or Esprit de Corps: those appeal to my professional side working with the services).
